For me, a picnic is all about shareable food which is why I’ve chosen a classic fruit of the forest pie, also side note: it’s very british. And another winner for the sharing category is this delicate salmon pie mmmm, adding a touch of class to any alfresco meal.

Food for a picnic- I instantly think nibbles. Out in the wild your hands should be your implements of choice when it comes to eating, so anything you can pick up and eat is perfect. Aka some bread toppers – here I have selected some delicious raw humus and tasty red onion chutney. However let it be known I also think cutlery at picnics can also be cute. So I’ve added a charcuterie platter as a knife is optional here.

 

 

For the littleones how about some jazzy vintage cordials. Even better with chopped up fruits inside for that extra 5-a-day. Or keeping it natural with some fruit juice- try out the wonderfully pure Bardsley Pear Juice. How about going alcoholic? Keep your cool bag at hand for some frozen cocktails, really making the day special and you’ll be thankful in the hot weather! Or my favourite treat on a hot day- some ginger beer, especially some as naturally fantastic as Lovely’s.

 

The necessities; picnic blanket, napkins, cups and a frisbee that doubles as a plate! And obviously great company- note: can be in the form of tennis.
