Many of our artisan vendors are small companies. Don’t get me wrong; they produce fantastic products, without which the BoroughBox.com marketplace wouldn’t be nearly as attractive. But the chances are you won’t have heard of them until you take an interest, and delve a little deeper.
The subject of today’s Vendor Spotlight is different. They’re extremely popular, create some of the most sought-after products on our site, and have achieved a status that most other vendors dream of.
I’m talking of course, about Godminster.
Named after Godminster Farm in Bruton, Somerset, the company produces some of the finest cheeses in the UK. Organic since 1999, the owner Richard Hollingbery has instilled environmentally friendly and ethical farming practices throughout the entire farm’s operations. His 280 strong dairy herd have a simple, wholesome life and the resulting creamy milk is at the heart of the company’s products.
And they don’t just make cheese; they ‘create.’ Check out these three favourites:
An absolute delight for any cheese lover: vintage organic cheddar; 35cl flavoured vodka, oak smoked vintage organic cheddar; fruitcake; a jar of beetroot and apple chutney; rosemary water biscuits; and a packet of digestive biscuits – all delivered in a wicker hamper.
This Classic Cheese Lovers Gift Box consists of Vintage Organic Cheddar (Gold Medal Winner National Cheese Awards 2012). Organic Brie. Oak Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar wrapped in muslin, Rosemary Water Biscuits (Gold medal winner at the Great Taste Award). And Paul Jeune Côtes du Ventoux Rouge: Château Valcombe 2008 from Yapps Brothers. It makes for an ideal Christmas present.
A beautiful 2.5kg tower of our cheese. Pure deliciousness and perfect for any party, or stylish centrepiece for Christmas: 900g Godminster Organic Brie; 1kg Godminster Vintage Organic Cheddar; 150g hand rolled & crushed black pepper Brie; 200g award winning Oak Smoked Cheddar; 200g Vintage Organic Cheddar Heart
If you’ve never tasted Godminster cheese before, I’m super excited for you. The Vintage Cheddar alone is to die for. It’s made to a 70-year-old-recipe, and I’m glad they haven’t tried to improve upon something which is, in my opinion, perfect.
When you order Godminster cheese, you really are spoiling yourself (or your loved ones), but why not, it is Christmas after all.
