As the resident West Indian on the BoroughBox team I’m forever counting down the days to the August Bank holiday and Notting Hill Carnival. This year is no exception, come rain or shine I’ll be there with my fellow revellers to party in the streets of West London.
Along with the feet stomping and hip shaking sounds, you are treated to the mouth watering flavours of the fusion foods of the Caribbean. The unique mix of cultures are reflected in both the people and the food. With influences from Africa, India, Spain, France, Britain, China and the Amerindian people the delicacies that originate from the islands are definitely soul satisfying. If you’re accustomed to the traditional Jerk recipes why not try some of the other favourites like doubles, duck roti, ackee and saltfish or some curried goat.
So, this weekend, get your party hat on, strip your tops off and head down to Notting Hill and let your cares fall away while you indulge in heart pumping beats and great food.
